Accounting Study Program Held a Focus Group Discussion on Curriculum Review
In order to deal with the increasingly rapid developments in the field of science and technology, as well as the industry’s need for workers who are competent in their fields, the Accounting study program of SGU conducted a focus group discussion event, to review the curriculum, by inviting relevant stakeholders. For this meeting, the speakers were Prof. Nunuy, representing the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI-Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia) and Padjajaran University, and Dr. Sylvia Veronika, senior lecturer at the University of Indonesia who spoke during the first session, and also Mr. Izhari Mawardi, representative of industry users who graduated from Swiss German University from the public accounting firm, EY.
The event took place on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Swiss German University, consisting of two sessions, the first session with representatives from the education sector and session two with representatives of the graduate user industry. Also attending were study program lecturers from the Faculty of Business and Communication, and the Vice-Rector of Swiss German University.
This symposium provided useful input and was particularly helpful for the accounting study programs in order to compile a new curriculum which will later produce accounting graduates who are ready to compete with other tertiary graduates in Indonesia. Furthermore, this activity also provided an overview to the instructors about the level of competency currently required by the industry so the department can more accurately determine what subjects are appropriate to give to students over the next few years.
