Challenges and Opportunities of Internet of Things (IoT) and Data Analytics in the Era of Industry 4.0
The Master of Information Technology (MIT) at Swiss German University (SGU) is committed to training the digital transformation architects who will contribute to the transformation of business and society for readiness in facing the fourth industry revolution era. Aligned with this commitment, the MIT department regularly reviews its curriculum in order to match it with the needs of industry and society. Furthermore, since IoT and data analytics are integral parts of the Industry 4.0, it is essential that the challenges and opportunities of these topics will be also discussed as part of the MIT curriculum. Therefore, it was decided that a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of these topics as a part of MIT SGU curriculum review should be held.
On 6 July 2019, the MIT department held a seminar and workshop entitled “Challenges and Opportunities of Internet of Things (IoT) and Data Analytics in the Era of Industry 4.0” at SGU’s Prominence Tower, Alam Sutera campus. During the event there were also workshops and FGDs attended by IT professionals, SGU lecturers, MIT students, MIT alumni, and members of the public.
In the seminar session, the MIT department invited prominent speakers in IoT application, data security, and application of data analytics in industry revolution 4.0 era, namely Mr. Ismail Fahmi, the Director of PT Media Kernels Indonesia; Mr. Hendra Sumiarsa, the Head of IoT, Digital & Smart City Business Development at Indosat Ooredoo; Mr. Rayi Ismara, the VP Commercial & Partnership at PT Cybertrend Intrabuana to share their knowledge and insights about the current trends in those fields, especially regarding the current challenges and opportunities.
